Lead Technical Consultant
The Lead Technical Consultant is a senior member of PMY’s Strategy & Advisory team. This role is accountable for designing and delivering complex, integrated technology programs across stadiums, venues, precincts, rights holders, and major events.
Acting as both a technical subject matter expert and strategic advisor, the successful candidate will guide clients from early-stage strategy and business case development through to procurement, implementation, and operational transition.
This position suits a hands-on, technically credible leader with a strong track record in consulting, technology delivery, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is equally confident advising in the boardroom and leading on the ground execution, bringing a practical, outcomes-focused approach across all stages of program delivery.
While PMY headquarters are located in Melbourne CBD, this role is open to candidates based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
- Develop integrated, forward-looking strategies aligning technology, data, and operations with client objectives.
- Identify innovation opportunities that enhance operational efficiency, commercial performance, and fan engagement.
- Author and present high-impact strategy documents, roadmaps, and board-level recommendations.
Technology Program Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of major digital and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Oversee vendor selection, design coordination, and technical assurance across the delivery lifecycle.
- Establish governance structures, risk frameworks, and program performance metrics.
Solution Scoping & Business Case Development
- Shape fit-for-purpose solutions tailored to client operational needs.
- Develop evidence-based business cases articulating return on investment (ROI), commercial alignment, and risk mitigation.
- Advise clients on investment sequencing and roadmap prioritisation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation
- Design and facilitate workshops with executive and operational stakeholders.
- Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations that drive decision-making.
Thought Leadership & Innovation
- Monitor global trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic advice and solution design.
- Act as the technical expert for our clients across venue technology, digital platforms, and innovation.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace, in accordance with PMY’s Occupational Health and Safety Policies and relevant legislative requirements
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in technology consulting, multi-disciplinary engineering, or a related field.
Skills
- Deep understanding of technology infrastructure, platforms, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership in complex program environments (budgeting, governance, quality assurance).
- Exceptional communication skills, able to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating across multidisciplinary teams and vendor ecosystems.
