PMY GROUP ANNOUNCES CITY OF MONTGOMERY SMART CITY PROJECT

Melbourne, Australia, 27 January 2022. Today, PMY Group (PMY) in collaboration with Intel announced joining forces to deploy a state-of-the-art smart city environment for the Five Points area in the City of Montgomery, Alabama in 2022.

The Five Points smart city project will showcase numerous technologies to help the neighbourhood businesses thrive by improving their access to information, services and training opportunities. The technology will also improve the visitor experience but highlighting the unique history of the area. PMY and Intel will work together to create an innovative IoT-based smart city solution which will include a private LTE network, Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) backbone, broad WiFi network, access for a smart classroom and interactive booths to display city and historical information. All of these capabilities are designed to improve community engagement.

Smart cities enable connectivity between objects or platforms via technology and PMY will leverage its experience from previous technology projects spanning the Sydney Showground Precinct, Grand Slam Tennis Championship, Olympics, and other global projects to guide this project. “We are excited to work with Intel to create a world-class smart city for Montgomery,” said Larry Witherspoon, PMY’s Senior Vice President – Revenue and Industry Partners. “This project will see some of the most useful and leading technologies come to life and we hope every resident and business will be able to benefit from it”.

This project complements Intel’s 2030 corporate responsibility goals as it champions responsibility, sustainability, future growth and enablement. Anna Scott, Solutions Architect at Intel is excited to get started. “We look forward to working closely with PMY in this project to be able to exhibit some of Intel’s best technologies for the City of Montgomery for both community gain and strategic economic outcomes.”

PMY will also work closely with Montgomery based company 1Sync Technologies (1Sync) and a regional tech/art-creative start-up community building initiative, I85 Cyber Corridor, who will play key roles in this deployment by providing services and expertise.

CEO of 1Sync Technologies Eric Sloan says, “The smart city living lab project represents a first step in using technology to accelerate business growth, improve access to information, and utilise smart city technology to benefit our wonderful community. We can’t wait to get going.”

Together, PMY, Intel and 1Sync will put best-in-class technologies to work, enabling the City of Montgomery to make better decisions, enhance sustainability, and improve the quality of life and city experience for residents, businesses and visitors.
