KOJO joins PMY Group to revolutionise global sports and entertainment
.
Melbourne, 4 May 2026 – Melbourne-headquartered technology, intelligence and experience
firm PMY Group (PMY) deployed its AI-powered crowd intelligence platform, Optic, at the
Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, giving event operators real-time
visibility of crowd movement and fan behaviour.
The platform is also being deployed at leading venues and events globally, including Grand
Slam tennis tournaments, major golf championships, airports, and retail outlets.
The Optic platform anonymously measures crowd movement and behaviour using CCTV,
ticketing, accreditation, point-of-sale and event management systems, along with LiDAR
sensors deployed across sites, creating a richer operational view of guests and their
experience.
PMY Chief Technology Officer Joe Costanzo said the data is captured and delivered instantly
to venue and event operators through easily digestible dashboards to enable live decision
making.
“Optic provides venue and event operators with a single, real-time view of guests on-site,
enabling teams to make informed decisions that can instantly improve the live environment,”
he said.
“We deployed Optic at the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix, helping event
operators understand the way fans were using different precincts, engaging with activations
and ingress and egress points, while also providing a live site occupancy count.”
“As part of the deployment, we tracked usage of Overpass One, which is one the event’s
busiest thoroughfares, and our real time insights supported operational decision making. This
helped keep foot traffic flowing, ensuring fans had a seamless experience moving across the
event.”
