NEW DATA CENTER AND
NETWORK OPERATION CENTER (NOC) IN TEXAS
TEXAS DATA CENTER AND NETWORK OPERATION CENTER (NOC)
Garland Independent School District (ISD) retained True North Consulting Group (a PMY Company) to develop an architectural program for a new data center and network operation center (NOC) and a detailed design of technology systems. Our work was coordinated with the architect of record and included requirements for power, HVAC, premise cabling, metropolitan area network (MAN) connectivity, rack layouts, and cut-over.
The data center and NOC occupy approximately 5,000 square feet and include redundant power distribution, centralized UPSs, and an emergency generator, supporting all systems. The data center was designed to provide a centralized, secure, and resilient location for district-wide access to technology resources. This data center serves more than 58,000 students over 70 facilities in the cities of Garland, Sachse, and Rowlett in the northeast corner of Dallas County.
We represented the district during schematic design and design development meetings with the architect and MEP to establish facility tiering levels based on the TIA 942 Telecommunication Standards for Data Centers. Our responsibilities included architectural programming, planning, and detailed design of the data center layout and structured cabling systems. Given the mission-critical nature of the facility and systems, we worked closely with the District to establish a phased cut-over and activation.
This facility has become a state-wide model of excellence known for its secure and scalable data center design.
