The Summer of Tennis is an annual event held across Australia that holds a significant place in the sporting calendar of tennis, attracting top-ranked players, passionate fans, and extensive media coverage from around the globe.
The Australian Open, one of the four prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, is the centerpiece of this season, preceded by several key tournaments in cities such as Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
Hosting an event of this magnitude requires robust and reliable connectivity and network infrastructure to support the diverse needs of various stakeholders. These needs encompass everything from live broadcasts and media coverage to player and fan experiences, all of which depend on seamless, mission-critical IT systems.
From 2021 to 2024, PMY has been entrusted by Tennis Australia to ensure the network and IT systems' readiness for the Australian Open and the preceding tournaments. Our responsibilities have included managing stakeholder consultations, coordinating technical requirements, and delivering cutting-edge connectivity solutions across the Summer of Tennis.
In January 2024, PMY provided extensive network support from Melbourne to Adelaide, ensuring every moment of the tournaments was captured and transmitted flawlessly. Our networks across major cities maintained robust connections, enabling millions of fans to stay connected to every critical moment of the games. Leveraging our OPTIC platform, PMY delivered real-time data analytics, tracking movements and behaviors to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. This innovative approach not only optimised the tournament's execution but also set new benchmarks for future Grand Slam events. Our technology seamlessly integrated with Tennis Australia's systems, particularly in player zones. The implementation of RFID technology provided secure and efficient access control, enhancing the players' experience and ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes.
In the summers of 2022/23/24, PMY expanded its support to manage six concurrent events across Australia over three months, including the Hobart International, Adelaide International, United Cup (held in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth), culminating in the Australian Open. This expansion showcased PMY's capability to scale its services and deliver excellence across multiple high-profile events simultaneously.
PMY's involvement in the 2024 Australian Open and the broader Summer of Tennis underscores our commitment to delivering state-of-the-art technology solutions in the world of professional sports. Our comprehensive network infrastructure, innovative data analytics, and seamless integration capabilities have positioned us as a trusted partner for Tennis Australia, ensuring that every tournament runs smoothly and every fan stays connected to the thrill of the game.
