SoFi Stadium is the biggest game in town: currently the world’s most expensive and most technologically advanced sporting destination.

An impressive indoor-outdoor venue in the Hollywood Park development, with a seating capacity of 100,000, It features over 2,500 Wi-Fi 6 access points, making it the largest deployment of this technology in any sports venue. Notable highlights include "the Oculus," a massive 70,000-sq-ft 4K double-sided video display, accompanied by 260 speakers and 50 5G antennas, providing an immersive fan experience.

WJHW (a PMY Company) played a pivotal role in designing various systems within the Seating Bowl, including AV systems, Prismview/Samsung LED scoreboards, and 4K IP-based video production and broadcast systems. These cutting-edge technologies operate on a Cisco network, with redundancy orchestrated by Evertz, and content management systems from Ross Video. WJHW also provided consultation for the deployment of IPTV (Cisco) throughout the venue, with over 3,000 displays and additional signage.

Throughout the project, valuable lessons were learned. While the decision to have a single network provider and integrator resulted in unprecedented discounts from Cisco, challenges arose with subcontractor staffing and meeting design and engineering requirements. ETFE material was found to be less ideal for seating bowl acoustics during concerts. Additionally, partitioning the IPTV deployment proved challenging with multiple subcontractors involved. These lessons provide important insights for future projects of similar scale & complexity.
